Biosphere Bikes Trishaw Initiative.
Date: April 2022 - present
Biosphere Bikes proudly partnered with Cycling Without Age Scotland (CWAS) to offer free Trishaw rides for people with limited mobility. CWAS was inspired by a project in Denmark through which elderly people were being enabled to get out and about in green energy eBike Trishaws ridden (or “piloted”) by volunteers.
Biosphere Bikes Trishaw Initiative was funded by Ayrshire LEADER, and the service helps local people with limited mobility enjoy the outdoors. Biosphere Bikes working with Cycling Without Age Scotland provide comprehensive training to every Trishaw rider/Pilot so that they are confident and safe in the Trishaw’s use, as are their passenger.
Biosphere Bikes Trishaw rides are available, free of charge, to anyone of any age with mobility challenges or living with loneliness or isolation. Trishaws can accommodate either one or two passengers.
We have excellent relationships with local care facilities and care homes. Our volunteers pilots at Biosphere Bikes takes residents out on a regular basis and over 2026 carried out 90 trishaw rides. If you represent a care facility or another type of care organisation, like a day centre, and are interested please just contact Biosphere Bikes to find out more.

DFN Project Search South Ayrshire
Date: February 13, 2025
Biosphere Bikes are grateful to our past partnership with DFN Project SEARCH South Ayrshire, an inspiring initiative designed to support young adults (ages 18-29) of diverse abilities in gaining valuable workplace experience.
This program was a collaborative effort between Ayrshire College, Girvan Youth Trust, and the National Trust for Scotland, aiming to provide these individuals with the skills and confidence needed for future employment.
The participants were an incredible help to our team, working diligently on various tasks such as tidying up our garage and counting bikes, ensuring that our operations ran smoothly. Their hard work and dedication were truly appreciated.
We were proud to be part of a project that not only empowered young people but also strengthened our local community by supporting local charities like ours.
Future Mechanics
Date: February 5, 2025- Present
Biosphere Bikes was proud to partner with Girvan Academy to deliver a unique 6-week Future Mechanics course for students. This exciting opportunity allowed children from Girvan Academy to learn the essential skills needed to maintain and care for their bicycles, with hands-on experience that would serve them well for years to come.
Each Wednesday, the sessions were expertly led by our skilled engineer, Walter, who generously volunteered his time to teach the students. Walter's wealth of knowledge and experience ensured that each participant received top-quality instruction and gained valuable insights into bike maintenance and repair.
Through this course, students deepened their understanding of bike mechanics and acquired practical skills in keeping their bikes in optimal condition.
