There are a lot of unloved and unused bikes out there. Some have just been outgrown and some forgotten about. We want to recycle as many bikes as possible and keep them out of landfill sites. If you have a bike that is not being used please consider donating it to Biosphere Bikes. We will refurbish the ones we can and use as many of the parts from the ones we cannot save. The refurbished bikes will either be repurposed to bring revenue to the Biosphere Bikes or donated to other organisations and local community members so that they will benefit from them.
You can bring donated bikes either to the hub at the seafront or the Community bike shop in Henrietta Street when they are open. You can also contact us through this website or via our Facebook page to arrange collection.
Check the contact page for opening times and to e-mail us.
**As of November 2025 we are unable to accept donations due to storage challenges. We will update you as soon as possible! Thank you for understanding**
Our Circular Economy Approach
At Biosphere Bikes in Girvan, Scotland, we believe every bike deserves a second chance. Through our circular economy model, donated bikes from local residents, council recycling centers, and community pickups are carefully assessed, refurbished, and reused. Bikes beyond repair are stripped for parts to support local groups, schools, and young people learning bike maintenance. Refurbished bikes are sold or donated, and remaining materials like tires and metal are responsibly recycled—reducing waste, keeping bikes on the road, supporting active travel, and fostering a more sustainable Girvan community.
Journey of a donated bike at Biosphere Bikes

2. Bike is stripped of any unusable parts
3. Unusable parts are recycled
