Exciting times ahead for the Biosphere Bikes project.
We are now able to say that we now own the building, This has been made possible with amazing support from South Ayrshire Council grant funding and also from funding from Kilgallioch Community Benefit fund.
This is so exciting and moving forward we are looking to develop the premises to make it accessible to everyone. We will be holding an open community day where our plans will be available to see and also asking the community for ideas on what they think we should add to our plans that would benefit everyone. The seafront hub will continue to run April to October providing accessible equipment for inclusive cycling and wheeling activities.
The seafront hub is seasonal and operates April to October. Everything is outside so it is extremely weather dependent. Having a shop premises means that there will be all year round activity. It will give space for a workshop and more opportunity for volunteering and work experience.
The initial plan is to develop the front shop area to start selling refurbished bikes and bike related equipment. The bike library will also run from the new premises. As the project progresses we wil be looking at workshops and other activities.
Its all a wee bit scary as its a massive step for the project but there a bunch of amazing people and funders who are right behind us
Massive thanks to South Ayrshire Community Wealth Building and ARIA funding and the National Lottery Community Fund who have enabled the start of this new venture
Exciting times ahead. Watch this space and Facebook for updates.
